MoonStar Company has been producing their minimal, functional footwear in Kurume, Japan for over a century. Best known for their clean designs, solid construction, and vulcanised soles, each pair of Moonstar shoes is completely hand-made before being fired in a kiln at 120 °C (248 °F) for 70 minutes to ensure a hardwearing and flexible finish. These were made for walking.

The upper structure is easy to put on and take off, and the sole is made of lightweight, waterproof, three-dimensional moulded EVA. The sole is made of glass fiber-blended rubber, which provides excellent anti-slip properties on ice.
